North America to disrupt global LNG supply with record liquefaction capacity growth

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘H1 2017 Global Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook for LNG Terminals – North America to Disrupt Global LNG Supply with Record Liquefaction Capacity Growth’, indicates that the LNG liquefaction industry is expected to grow by more than double in terms capacity by 2021. North America leads the regions in terms of planned liquefaction capacity growth, contributing about 80% of the total global capacity growth.

The LNG regasification industry is also expected to witness capacity growth of around 41% by the end of the outlook period. Asia and Europe lead the global regasification capacity growth among regions.

GlobalData’s midstream research suggests that the US leads among countries, in terms of planned liquefaction capacity additions by 2021, followed by Canada and Russia. India and China lead in terms of planned LNG regasification capacity additions.
