Controlfluid Floating, Trunnion-Mounted and Three-Way Ball Valves, and Forged and Cast Steel Valves

Controlfluid’s vast experience, absolute flexibility and adaptability in meeting a wide range of requirements, together with its qualified operating skills, have made it a household name with many industries, including chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food processing and shipbuilding.

The very high quality and safety levels reached by Controlfluid’s production standards range from the resistance to high temperatures and pressures, to low temperatures and the aggressiveness of more and more critical fluids.

Controlfluid obtained the ISO 9000 certification in 1997. All valves are inspected one by one through destructive and non-destructive tests and undergo a final leakage test strictly in line with the requirements and specifications of the customer. The company is well-equipped with the facilities and resources needed to achieve the best results.

Floating ball valves

Floating ball valves are designed to support the ball on two seats located on upstream and downstream sides. Floating ball valves are generally used in small bore piping or low-pressure clean service. They have a two or three-piece body, blow-out proof stem, antistatic device, and are fire-safe designed and certified. Floating ball valves are available in carbon steel, stainless steel and special alloys.

Trunnion-mounted ball valves

Trunnion-mounted ball valves have the ball mounted on trunnions supported in body bearings above and below the ball. Sealing is achieved by spring-loaded piston-type seats which shut off flow when the line pressure acts on the upstream seat. This design provides automatic relief of cavity overpressure. Trunnion-mounted designs are available in sizes above 2in and are generally used for higher pressure.

Features of trunnion-mounted ball valves:

  • Three-piece body
  • Blow-out proof stem
  • Antistatic device
  • Fire-safe designed and certified
  • Double block and bleed
  • Self relieving
  • Execution: full or reduced bore
  • Materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, special alloys resilient or metal seated

Three-way ball valves

The principal function of three-way ball valves is to divert one or more flow streams whilst preventing intermixing. These are used in chemical process applications and are restricted to lower pressure ratings:

  • T – bore type can be used for bypass and mixed of fluids
  • L – bore type can change the medium flow direction

Three-way ball valves are available in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Forged steel valves

Forged steel gate valves are used for on-off operation of hydrocarbons, general processing and utility services for all temperature ranges.

Forged steel globe valves are used for flow regulation or as a block valve where high resistance to flow is not a disadvantage and a positive closing action is required.

Forged steel check valves are required to permit forward flow and prevent reverse flow. This is achieved through linear or rotary (angular) motion of a closure member which is kept open by flowing fluid.

When the flow is reduced towards zero, or reversed, the closure member is moved against its seat by forces due to gravity, supplementary springs and back pressure.

Cast steel valves

Cast steel gate valves are used for on-off operation of hydrocarbons, general processing and utilities services for all temperature ranges.

Cast steel globe valves are used for flow regulation or as a block valve where high resistance to flow is not a disadvantage and a positive closing action is required.

Cast steelcheck valves are required to permit forward flow and prevent reverse flow. This is achieved through linear or rotary (angular) motion of a closure member, which is kept open by flowing fluid.

When the flow is reduced towards zero, or reversed, the closure member is moved against its seat by forces due to gravity, supplementary springs and back pressure.

Butterfly valves

Butterfly valves are low torque, quarter turn, rotary action valves with a straight-through flow configuration in which a disk is turned in axial trunnion bearings into a single seat and intruded into the flow passage in the fully open position.

Motorised valves

Ball, gate, globe and butterfly valves can be operated by electric or pneumatic actuators and equipped with several control accessories according to customer requirements.
