Rockbestos-Surprenant Cable Corp Electrical Wire and Cables

Rockbestos-Surprenant Cable Corporation (R-SCC) provides electrical wire and cables for the petrochemical industry. Products include MC Sensor® cables, Exane® oilrig cables and Gardex® armored cables. R-SCC has supplied cable products to the petrochemical industry for over 30 years.

Exane insulated cables

R-SCC Exane insulated cables are proven in the harshest land and marine applications. Exane is an irradiated cross-linked polyolefin insulation material that has a temperature rating of 125°C. It is capable of continuous performance at this temperature, allowing for a higher current carrying capacity.

Exane insulated cables have outstanding resistance to abrasion, cut-through, low and high temperatures, petrochemical fluids, sunlight and moisture. Also equipped with excellent flame and acid gas retardance, they are ideally suited for use in demanding drilling rig applications. R-SCC Exane insulated cables are used globally, on rigs and platforms in the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the West Coast of Africa.

Gardex armored cables

The Gardex line of armored power, instrumentation and control cables are self-contained wiring systems designed for use in applications where circuit integrity is an issue. The Gardex armor can withstand mechanical and physical abuse, and is impervious to water, gas and corrosive elements. The cables also meet stringent Class 1, Division 1 requirements.

The Gardex CRC® is an armored critical circuit cable designed for highly critical electrical circuits. It can be subjected to very high temperatures, vibrations and flames.

Gardex ACD® is the latest Gardex product, designed for use in IGBT type high-speed AC drive applications. It has been found to maximize performance for the total AC drive system. This product is recommended by GE, Siemens, Rockwell Automation and ABB.

MC Sensor cable

The MC Sensor cable allows the petrochemical industry to permanently monitor downhole oil well conditions. The cable links downhole sensor equipment to surface data acquisition devices, providing a strong and secure data path for crucial downhole information while also powering the gauges.

The basic R-SCC gauge cable consists of an ETFE-insulated conductor in the centre of a 0.25in 316L stainless-steel tube with a filler layer of expanded polyethylene. This can be expanded for additional protection against harsh environments with a variety of polymeric materials.

Permanent downhole gauge cables

R-SCC is the only totally in-house manufacturer of permanent downhole gauge cables in the world. Our range includes multiple insulated conductors, fibre optics, strength members, injection tubing, subsea safety valve tubing and combinations of these components. We also offer Incoloy 825 tubing and other customer-required alloys. R-SCC is able to provide cables in splice-free lengths exceeding 30,000ft.
